Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries after being stabbed at a CIAA party Saturday night. The event featured performances by rappers Nikki Minaj and Meek Mill.
According to an after-action report compiled by the city of Charlotte, police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the Oasis Tent at North College Street and Ninth Street.
When officers got there, they found two injured victims. Police have not released the names of the victims, who were taken to Carolinas Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries.
Investigators have also not released the name or a description of a suspect in the stabbing.
The party was held at the ‘Oasis Tent’, which was constructed specifically to host parties for the college basketball tournament.
As I’ve stated before, 9 out of 10 of the hundreds of events at CIAA occur without incident. It would terribly misrepresent the spirit of the occasion to assume that it’s surrounded by violence.
