Thursday evening Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Bank of America Chair and CEO Brian Moynihan sat down for a fireside chat, moderated by FOX NFL Sunday host Curt Menefee, to celebrate the stadium naming rights extension with Bank of America and preview the MOMINTUM state-of-the-art experience center for the stadium renovation.
During the chat Menefee asked Goodell if the stadium renovations and Charlotte’s growth opens the door for larger league-related events, like the NFL Draft and Super Bowl, to take place in the Queen City.
“As we were going through center city and you see the way the downtown is evolving, the first thing that came into my mind is ‘this is built for a draft,'” Goodell said.
The commissioner went on to say that while the Bank of America Stadium facilities are Super Bowl quality, the lack of hotel rooms in Charlotte is an issue – adding that if the city continues to grow at the rate it is a Super Bowl could be down the line.
