Last night’s game at Carter Finley Stadium, the Wolfpack aggressively stole the game despite a series of events taking place against Richmond. The final score was 73-0.
The Wolfpack came into the game with a chip on their shoulder. Sophomore running back, Duke Scott, made exhilarating plays – scoring two touchdowns and finishing the game with 128 rushing yards on nine carries. Quarterback CJ Bailey made a couple of plays himself, finishing with one touchdown and 281 passing yards – completing 13 of his 17 passes.
Junior Keenan Jackson, the star wide receiver for last night’s game, caught four passes for 123 yards, and junior Preston Douglas caught two passes for 58 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown,
The game took a hard left in the second quarter as a storm took over the stadium, forcing fans to evacuate their seats and suspending the game for an hour and a half.
When the game resumed, the Wolfpack picked up where they left off – scoring three times within ten minutes. Despite the unexpected storm halting the game, they didn’t let that stop their momentum and made a statement.
The Wolfpack made their 28-0 stretch into a 49-0 stretch, with backup players such as sophomore Will Wilson, who rushed for three touchdowns and threw one pass. Dylan McCoy closed the game with a 51-yard touchdown.
The Wolfpack regained their confidence after a tough loss in Virginia. “We want a response.” Coach Dooren said to his team. “It was all about reparation; it wasn’t about the team we were playing.”
Coach Doeren was very pleased with the performance his team gave, despite the weather delay. The next stop for the Wolfpack is Nashville, playing against Vanderbilt on Sept 19th at 7 pm.
