The Wolfpack lit a match at Cater-Finley Stadium on a scorching hot Saturday afternoon, but the heat wasn’t a problem for the Wolfpack. Campbell’s defense wasn’t able to keep up with the efficiency of the Wolfpack offense – leading to a thrashing score of 56-10.
NC State came out swinging in the first half, scoring seven touchdowns. Running back Hollywood Smothers had an electrifying 59 yard rushing touchdown and quarterback CJ Bailey threw for four touchdowns to key receivers Justin Joly, Terrell Anderson, Smothers, and Cody Hardy.
The Camels tried their best to take control of the game, however the Wolfpack defense didn’t hold back – sacking quarterback Camdam Sixkiller twice for a loss of 18 yards and forcing many incomplete passes. The Wolfpack took advantage of the Camels lack of efficiency, causing the Wolfpack to outscore them in every quarter.
In his post conference Bailey was asked about the offense’s efficiency compared to their last game. “We took more shots” Bailey said, adding that the Wolfpack was motivated to pull themselves out of the slump from these past two games.
Bailey was also asked about facing a tough schedule ahead. Bailey says “You say it’s a tougher schedule, I don’t think so.” The esteemed player feels confident that the team can conquer the second half of their schedule.
The next game for the Wolfpack is away, at Notre Dame Stadium October 11th, at 3:30pm.
