CHAPEL HILL, N.C. —- On Monday, the Tar Heels win streak was snapped in the final seconds of their loss to Georgia Tech.
It was a game that humbled the No.3-ranked Tar Heels and with the chip back on their shoulder, they’ve gotta get back right as they host the Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. in the Dean Dome.
Duke also lost to the Yellow Jackets during their first conference game of the season back on Dec. 2, but since that game the Devils have gone 11-1 – only dropping against Pittsburgh on Jan. 20.
Tomorrow’s rivalry game will mark the 261st time the two programs have met and the 49th game where both are ranked in the AP Top 10, the Devils are ranked No.7.
Both programs boast an impressive record, with the Devils sitting at second in the conference behind the Tar Heels.
North Carolina is a perfect 9-0 in the Smith Center this season and 36-5 at home since head coach Hubert Davis’ tenure began back in 2021. They are 143-117 all-time against the Blue Devils, including 65-39 in Chapel Hill (20-18) in the Smith Center. Coincidentally, both teams have won 24 times in top 10 matchups – a feat no other team in the nation has achieved.
These numbers speak to the history and lore of Carolina-Duke and after the Devils swept the Tar Heels last season, this group is back for more and hungrier than ever.
