Duke head men’s head coach Jon Scheyer expressed continued frustration with a blown call at the end of the Blue Devils’ 69-62 overtime loss to the Cavaliers.
“I’m angry still,” Scheyer said during the ACC men’s basketball coaches call Monday. “Saturday was a disappointing outcome. All of us saw the ACC’s release. I respect them for putting it out. I respect them for acknowledging it, Obviously, it doesn’t change the outcome that our guys didn’t get the opportunity to earn a win.”
Saturday, Scheyer’s team had a chance on the road to earn a quad one win against a top-10 ranked Virginia – potentially moving the Blue Devils up the seed line to a 6th seed in the NCAA Tournament. With the loss, Duke is looking at a potential 8th seed.
Longterm, Duke’s remaining schedule features matchups against Syracuse, Louisville, Virginia Tech, North Carolina State and a season-finale road contest at North Carolina. The Blue Devils’ remaining opponents features one ranked team – the 23rd ranked NC State Wolfpack who blew out Duke at the PNC arena earlier in the season.
Duke will host Notre Dame Tuesday at 7pm.
