Two Panthers’ legends had a candid conversation about football – and more – when Luke Kuechly appeared on Ryan Kalil”s podcast this week. The two discussed Kuechly’s time in Carolina and a myriad of other topics, including his thoughts on Carolina interim head coach Steve Wilks:
“I love Wilks,” Kuechly exclaimed. “He’s a really good coach, but he’s a great person. He treats people really well. I think it matters to him. He’s a Charlotte-based guy. He’s had success here before. I really like him. He loves football and has a great family.”
“I think he has a really good feel for managing people, and as a coach I think that’s kinda your number one job…how to manage people, how to manage players and how to put out fires. He’s really, really good at that.”
Luuuuke, who with other former players showed support for Wilks on his first day as head coach, also discussed potentially returning to the sideline:
“I don’t think I’d ever say never,” Kuechly said when asked about being offered NFL coaching jobs. “I think I’d really enjoy it and have a ton of fun with it. Just the time associated…if I jump back in, I would have to make a choice to say no to Christmas and Thanksgiving and I’m not quite sure that I’m ready to do that.”
