Three Keys to UNC’s Final Four Win Over Duke

In another Duke-UNC classic, it was the Tar Heels who defeated the Blue Devils 81-77. There was a lot of back and forth and momentum swings throughout the game, but Caleb Love’s three to put UNC up by four with 25 seconds left was the difference. Here are three rapid thought’s about this classic:

Caleb Love Thrives in Big Moments:

Caleb Love was once again special in the 2nd half of a big game. Love was 8-12 in the 2nd half for 22 points. After Banchero put Duke up by seven, Love made back to back threes and a layup during an 11-0 UNC run to give them momentum. What Love did in the 2nd half of this game and the UCLA game was special.

UNC Wins the Battle of the 3-Point Line:

UNC was a +15 from the 3 point line and shot 7-13 from three in the 2nd half after both team struggled from the outside in the 1st half. Both Caleb Love and Brady Manek made three triples a piece. Duke was only 5-22 from three for the game, while the Tar Heels finished the game shooting 10-26

UNC Won the Battle of the Glass:

UNC was able to win the battle of the glass 50 to 41. Mark Williams and Theo John both were in foul trouble throughout most of the game. Armando Bacot was a monster on the boards with his 2nd straight game with over 20 rebounds.
