The University of North Carolina men’s basketball game at Boston College will be played Sunday, January 2, instead of New Year’s Day as originally scheduled.
The Tar Heels and Eagles are now scheduled to play at either Noon or 1 p.m. on Sunday. The starting time and broadcast information are still to be determined.
The UNC at BC game is one of four ACC men’s basketball games originally scheduled for Saturday, January 1, that are affected by Covid-related health and safety protocols.
In addition to the UNC-BC game moving back a day, the ACC announced:
• Duke at Notre Dame, Postponed
• Virginia at Syracuse – time change to 6 p.m. on ACC Network (originally scheduled for 8 p.m.)
• Louisville at Georgia Tech – moved to Sunday, January 2 at 6 p.m. on ESPNU (originally scheduled for January 1 at 2 p.m.)
Boston College, Duke and Georgia Tech are adhering to the outlined Covid protocols within the ACC Medical Advisory Group report, which is available on theACC.com (full report).
Carolina is 9-3 overall and 1-0 in ACC play. The Tar Heels last played on December 21, a 70-50 home win over App State.
Boston College is 6-5 overall, 1-0 in the ACC. The Eagles defeated Notre Dame on December 3 then lost a pair of non-conference games, to Saint Louis on December 11 and Albany on the 13th. BC’s subsequent games against Wake Forest (12/22) and Florida State (12/29) were postponed.
The Tar Heels were scheduled to return to play post-Christmas by hosting Virginia Tech this evening, but that contest was postponed on Monday due to safety protocols in the Hokie program.
