The NFL has a VERY strict uniform policy, but for one Sunday this season the “No Fun League” will allow players to have a little artistic freedom on game day. According to Sports Illustrated’s Jonathan Jones, on week 13 the league will allow players to shout-out a charitable organization of their choice in one of the coolest ways possible.
The NFL is planning to allow players to promote a charitable cause of their choice during the Dec. 4 weekend, and a separate league source indicated that plan will go beyond cleats.
This could either be really good for the league or really bad. I’m sure the NFL will have to pre-approve personalizations, but will they be discriminatory in what messages they allow? Will players be able to openly support organizations like the Black Lives Matter movement or will they deem that a cause that’s too controversial?
The league is set to announce their full plan at a later date.
