SC House Votes 94-20 to Remove Confederate Flag from State House Grounds

Last night, after over 12 hours of debate, history was made in South Carolina as the House of Representatives voted 94-20 to remove the Confederate flag from State House grounds.

My roots are in Orangeburg, SC. I’ve been marching along side my family to have the Confederate flag removed since I was a child. I applaud this day, but I am keenly aware that it’s 150 years too late and it took such a tragic event for the state to do what is right. This is only a small victory. Don’t get complacent with it. Continue to fight and demand for justice in America.
