Turning thirty is a milestone that Panthers offensive lineman Rob Hunt reached a couple of weeks ago, but the feelings of maturity began long before he celebrated entering a new decade.
“This whole year I can say I feel more mature than I have in my previous years,” Hunt told me during Monday’s open locker room. “Not because I turned thirty. I guess I turned a new leaf. I feel good. I’m blessed with my beautiful family. I’m doing good. Thirty feels good.”
And while Hunt feels more mature, he admits he also feels more anxious heading into this season than in previous years. Why? Because he hasn’t played much the past twelve months.
“We’ll see,” Hunt said when I asked how his maturity will translate on the field. “I haven’t played, honestly, in a year. I know I came back in the playoff game, but that wasn’t who I am. So, I don’t know. I’ve got a lot of nerves. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t know how it’s going to play out for me, but I’m exited to do it.”
Rob admitted that the anxiousness is “unfamiliar” territory for him, but like anything you haven’t done in a while he’s “got to see how it feels.”
