Ahead of the start of training camp the Carolina Panthers announced that starting right tackle, Taylor Moton, will miss extended time while recovering from a blood clot in his lung. The clot was discovered in late June and will sideline the nine year veteran into the regular season.
With the absence of starting right tackle Ikem Ekwonu, who is recovering from a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee – and now Moton – the Panthers head into training camp thin along the offensive line. Veteran offensive tackle Rasheed Walker, who signed with the team during the offseason, will likely start camp at left tackle. First round draft pick Monroe Freeling could fill the void at right tackle. The team also brought back versatile lineman Brady Christensen, who has played limited snaps at the position.
The team also announced that Pro Bowl cornerback Jaycee Horn will miss limited time while recovering from a cut on his foot that required stitches. He will return when those heal.
The Panthers will hold their first practice of training camp Thursday morning at Bank of America Stadium.
