Sean Payton Takes Shots at Panthers in Postgame Press Conference

It wasn’t enough that Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton was trying to run the score up on the Panthers by calling a fake punt and going for it on 4th and 2 while holding a 21 point lead late in the 4th quarter. The veteran NFL coach had to take a few shots at his former NFC South foe in his postgame press conference as well.

Payton on the team’s defensive performance:

“I was. I wish we would’ve finished better. I said this, it’s not a good offense we played. It’s just the truth. So we expected that, and we’re going to see a lot better teams.”

Payton on if he can use his frustrations from today to help prepare to face Baltimore next week:

“I’ll sleep fine. We have a big game this week against a much better team.”

Cornerback Jaycee Horn confronted Payton after the game about his aggressive play-calling despite the game clearly out of Carolina’s reach.

When asked about the exchange, Payton said he thought it was aimed at a player.

“I coached his father. So I was yelling back at him. I don’t know what the exchange was, but his father I enjoyed coaching.  I enjoyed him. He was frustrated. I think he was yelling at one of our other players. I like him. I think he’s a good player.”

The only way to hurt a bully is by beating them. Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos bullied the Carolina Panthers on and off the field and there was nothing they could do about it.
