Thursday afternoon the Carolina Panthers announced the final members of Dave Canales’ staff. The additions include:
- Will Harriger: Quarterbacks. Harriger is a former assistant quarterbacks coach in Seattle and was most recently quarterbacks coach at the University of Southern California.
- Nathan Carroll: Pass game coordinator. Carroll is a former Seahawks assistant wide receiver’s coach and Pete Carroll’s son.
- Pat McPherson: Tight ends. McPherson spent the last 13 years as tight ends coach in Seattle.
- Keli’i Kekuewa: Assistant offensive line. Kekuewa was a former assistant offensive line coach in Seattle.
- Daren Bates: Special teams assistant. Bates, who last played in the NFL in 2021, was an assistant coach in Seattle last season.
- Scott Cooper: Director of coaching development.
But with as many new faces on the offensive side of the ball, the Panthers’ entire defensive staff will remain intact.
- Ejiro Evero: Defensive coordinator
- Dom Capers: Senior defensive assistant
- Jim Caldwell: Senior assistant
- Todd Wash: Defensive line
- Bert Watts: Secondary/Safeties
- Johnathan Cooley: Secondary/Cornerbacks
- Peter Hansen: Inside linebackers
- Tem Lukabu: Outside linebackers
- DeAngelo Hall: Assistant defensive backs
- Mayur Chaudhari: Defensive assistant
- Bobby Maffei: Defensive QC
- Mike Bercovici: Offensive assistant
- George Li: Game management coordinator
This is huge head coach Dave Canales. Defense was the Panthers’ only bright spot last season and being able to have continuity on that side of the ball will surely benefit the first-time head coach.
Previously the Panthers announced:
- Brad Idzik: Offensive Coordinator
- Tracy Smith: Special Teams Coordinator
- Harold Goodwin: Assistant head coach/run game coordinator
- Bernie Parmalee: Running backs
- Rob Moore: Wide receivers
- Joe Gilbert: Offensive line
