CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – After a statement win over Clemson on Saturday the Tar Heels (11-3, 3-0 ACC) climbed to No. 7 in the AP Top 25 rankings and will head to Raleigh tonight to face N.C. State at PNC Arena. The Wolfpack are also 11-3 overall with a 3-0 conference record. They have a perfect 8-0 record at home and have won their past four games, most recently a 76-60 win over Virginia on Jan. 6.
NC State is led by guards Jayden Taylor and Dennis Parker Jr. who contributed 15 points apiece. According to UNC head coach Hubert Davis, guard DJ Horne and big man DJ Burns Jr., will be the most formidable players the Tar Heels will face – saying that both have the ability to “score consistently down low in the paint and shoot from three.”
He also mentioned the athleticism of both players, highlighting that their ability to attack the basket makes them gifted and will be the most important challenge for North Carolina to limit.
Last season the teams played twice with each one winning on their home court, but in their last matchup the Wolfpack pulled away with the victory.
In what will be a classic rivalry game, it is sure to be a good one and a landslide victory if the Tar Heels can keep up their current momentum.
