The injury bug has hit the Panthers’ locker room. This week the team announced that safety Jeremy Chinn would be out at least four week after being placed on injured reserve and now wide receiver Laviska Shenault has been ruled out with a hamstring injury for Sunday’s contest against the San Francisco 49ers. Shenault, who made a splash in his first game with the Panthers – scoring a 67-yard touchdown in the team’s week three win against the Saints – also contributed on special teams as a kick returner.
In addition to Shenault being sidelined, safety Xavier Woods is questionable and his status will be a game-time decision. The team elevated veteran Juston Burris from the practice this week to pair along with special-teamers Myles Hartsfield and Sean Chandler – all of whom are expected to contribute at safety Sunday.
