The Carolina Panthers return home in Week 3, hosting the New Orleans Saints at Bank of America Stadium. The Panthers enter the week 0-2 after losing in Metlife Stadium to the New York Giants 19-16. Carolina has dropped their first two games by a combined score of five points. New Orleans comes into the matchup with a record of 1-1 after falling to a divisional foe, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 20-10 in Week 2.
This will mark the first divisional matchup for Carolina and third for the Saints, who open the 2022 season facing all three divisional opponents in consecutive weeks. - Defensive end Brian Burns lead the Panther pass rush and tied a career game-high with 2.0 sacks and four quarterback hits in week two. Burns needs just one sack to pass Thomas Davis (28.0) for eighth all-time in franchise history.
- Linebacker Frankie Luvu tied recorded a new career- highs with four tackles for loss and a game-leading 10 combined tackles against the Giants. His four tackles for loss now put him tied atop of the league after the early set of games in Week Two.
- Versus New York, running back Christian McCaffrey went over the century-mark, compiling 102 rushing yards on 15 carries McCaffrey also hauled in four catches for 26 yards, total- ing 128 scrimmage yards on the day.
- Quarterback Baker Mayfield had a touchdown pass and zero interceptions last week. He dad two touchdowns (1 pass, 1 rush) and one interception in his week-one home start versus Cleveland.
- Safety Xavier Woods had 10 tackles in week two and is one of three defensive backs (Jonathan Owens & Marcus Williams) with 10+ tackles in each of 1st two weeks.
- Carolina Panthers defense only allowed 162 passing yards last week vs the Giants. Opposing quarterbacks have not reached 200 passing yards in a game this season.
