The NC State Wolfpack will close out a three-game homestand with one final tuneup before next week’s big matchup against Clemson, as they host the UConn Huskies Saturday night inside Carter-Finley Stadium.

#12 NC State (4-0) enters the contest fresh off a 27-14 win over Texas Tech last Saturday, where the Wolfpack defense almost completely shut down a Red Raiders offense that put up close to 500 yards the week before.
The NC State offense had a few bright spots, but still doesn’t look the part with Devin Leary. Texas Tech outgained NC State in total yards, 353-270. Three interceptions from the Wolfpack defense helped seal the deal, including an 84-yard pick-six from Aydan White who had two of the three interceptions for NC State.
Game Notes
- NC State and UConn will face each other for the first time since 2012
and only the third time overall.
- The Wolfpack has won the two previous matchups in one-score
games (31-24 in Raleigh in 2003 and 10-7 in East Hartford in 2012).
- UConn special teams coach Doug Shearer served on Dave Doeren’s
staff at NC State from 2014-2018 as the quality control coach for special teams. He served as current Wolfpack placekicker Christopher Dunn’s coach during his freshman campaign (2018).
- NC State enters the UConn game with a 12-game winning streak at Carter-Finley Stadium. That’s the fifth-best active home winning streak in the FBS and is the second-longest in the history of Carter-Finley Stadium (which opened in 1966).
- On the other side of the ball, the NC State offense has also had limited opportunities in the red zone. With nine trips inside the opponent’s 20-yard line this season, the Pack ranks 101st nationally, and its seven total scores within the red zone are 102nd.
