Matt Corral Suffers Significant Injury During Preseason Loss to Patriots

Matt Rhule announced Saturday that rookie quarterback Matt Corral suffered a lisfranc tear in his foot during the Panthers’ preseason loss to the Patriots Friday night.

Although Rhule wouldn’t speculate how long Corral would be sidelined or if the team would put him on season-ending injured reserved, he did say it’s significant.

Corral played the second and most of the fourth quarter of Carolina’s 20-10 preseason loss to New England before leaving the field after getting injured. An MRI taken Saturday confirmed a torn lisfranc. If surgery is required, recovery is usually anywhere between three to five months.
