The Carolina Panthers have announced that Baker Mayfield will start Saturday’s preseason opener against the Washington Commanders.
After Thursday’s Fan Fest Matt Rhule said that Mayfield and Darnold will each play a series before PJ Walker and Matt Corral split snaps the rest of the game.
Although Rhule hasn’t announced an official starter, today’s decision is an indication that Mayfield is winning the competition for QB1.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 1pm.
