The Carolina Panthers have officially released their first depth chart of the season ahead of Saturday’s preseason game versus the Commanders. Here are a few things that stick out:
- QB1 has not been announced. Mayfield and Darnold are both listed with the first team.
- Center also has two players listed on the first team – Elflein and Bozeman – and both D’Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard are listed on the 2nd team at running back behind Christian McCaffrey.
- Brady Christensen is listed on the first team at left tackle ahead of 2022 first round pick Ikem Ekwonu, who has seen more reps at that position with the 1st team the last couple of practices.
- Cam Erving, who started for the Panthers last season at left tackle, is now listed on the 2nd team at right tackle.
- PJ Walker is listed on the 2nd team ahead of 2022 3rd round pick Matt Corral.
- In a fight for what may be the final spot on the 53-man roster at wide receiver, Shi Smith is ahead of CJ Saunders on the depth chart.
