PNC Arena Or Bust; Canes Road Woes Continue

Different series, same results. The Carolina Hurricanes headed to New York with a convincing two-game lead in their second-round matchup against the Rangers, but now find themselves in the same spot they were last round.

Tied at 2-2. Best of 3. Carolina turned in two more disappointing efforts in Madison Square Garden, falling in both games by scores of 3-1 and 4-1. Pitiful.

So far this postseason, Carolina is a perfect 6-0 at home and 0-5 on the road. For some reason, the Canes hockey sense leaves when they aren’t playing at 1400 Edwards Mill Road.

The Bad

Two goals in two games on the road just won’t get it done. The power play continues to be abysmal while star forwards Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov, to name a few, have been ghost from the scoring column.

The Good

Luck for them, Carolina has home ice for the remainder of the Eastern playoffs with Tampa Bay making easy work sweeping the Florida Panthers, but the Canes will first have to deal with a Rangers team that suddenly has new life.

Can Carolina repeat its magic from the last round winning both home games? I’m sure Canes’ fans would love to avoid the Game 7 stress AGAIN, but will gladly take the same results.

The Hurricanes and Rangers will face off in game five of their playoff series Thursday at 7pm.
