Sam Darnold Says He’s Proved He’s a Good Quarterback, But Has He?

It’s not what you know. It’s what you can prove.

Sam Darnold went on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast and proclaimed that he’s proven that he’s a good quarterback in the NFL.

“It’s truly like whatever happens, happens, because at the end of the day it’s out of my control and I know that,” Darnold said. “I have enough security in myself to where I can be like, ‘I know I’m a good quarterback. I know I can be a good quarterback in this league. I’ve proved it.’ And I know there’s a team, if something happens, that would want me.”

Darnold may know that he is a good quarterback, but he hasn’t proven it. Last season, Darnold threw for 2,527 yards, nine touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 71.9.

With the year Darnold had, it seems as if he’s trying to convince other teams that he is a good quarterback to drum up options in the event the Panthers move on from him. Plus, it also seems as if Darnold is trying to convince himself that he’s great to keep himself encouraged.

It’s also possible that Darnold knows he’s not going anywhere in 2022 and has a chance to redeem himself in Carolina. Either way, this year Darnold is going to prove he’s a good quarterback on the field and not a podcast.
