In a game that mirrored the last few collapses, the NC State Wolfpack found a way to get a much-needed ACC win over Virginia Tech 68-63 Tuesday night in Blacksburg, VA.

NC State (8-7, 1-4 ACC) used multiple runs to come away with the victory in both halves. The Wolfpack led Virginia Tech (8-6, 0-3 ACC) 29-19 with 5:11 remaining in the opening half before the Hokies closed the half on a 14-0 run to go ahead 33-29 at the break.

The Wolfpack responded with a run of their own, retaking the lead at 52-43 with 12:28 left in the game. Virginia Tech wouldn’t go away – cutting a 58-50 NC State lead to just one before taking a one-point lead with 4:54 left in regulation.

Leading scorer Dereon Seabron took over from there, pushing the Pack ahead 64-59 with a jumper at the 1:29 mark. Seabron would ice the victory with an offensive rebound and put back with 22 seconds left.

Seabron finished the contest with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Terquavion Smith followed with 17 points and 7 rebounds, while Cole Hellems added 15 points and five rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.

NC State returns to action Saturday, January 8 as the Wolfpack host Clemson in a midday slate in PNC Arena.
