Junior forward/center Armando Bacot and sophomore guards RJ Davis and Caleb Love were selected captains for the 2021-22 University of North Carolina men’s basketball team.
The Tar Heels play host to Elizabeth City State University this evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Dean E. Smith Center in a preseason game.
Last season, Bacot (Richmond, Va.) became the first Tar Heel to lead the team in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots since Brice Johnson in 2016.
Davis (White Plains, N.Y.) and Love (St. Louis, Mo.) combined for nearly 19 points a game. They are the first sophomores named captain since Marcus Paige in 2013-14.
The players were selected captains by a vote of their teammates.
Carolina begins regular-season play for first-year head coach Hubert Davis on Tuesday, November 9, against Loyola Maryland.
