Royal Rankings: Week 7 NFL Power Rankings

This week we saw gutsy calls on fourth down, a running back becoming a MVP favorite candidate, the Cardinals continue to distance themselves from the rest of the pack and the Ravens continue to will themselves to victory despite a plethora of injuries.

Here’s my week 7 power rankings

  1. Arizona Cardinals- Kyler Murray once again exposed a defense that spent a guap load of money in the off season revamping itself, and as of yet, has not lived up to expectations. The good thing here is the Cardinals are going to light up a lot of defenses. Imagine having a veteran in A.J. Green as your third option on offense. Not only did the Cardinals win big at Cleveland, it was without their head coach Kliff Kingsbury who was out due to COVID-19. The 6-0 Cardinals are undefeated for the first time since 1974.
  2. Los Angeles Rams- Yes it was against the Giants, who have their own problems, but a win is a win. Cooper Kupp is arguably looking like the most efficient receiver in the NFC outside of Deandre Hopkins. Kupp joined a special class on Sunday, becoming one of two players (Randy Moss) to surpass 600 receiving yards, with seven touchdowns in just the first six games of the season.
  3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers– Tom Brady and company made things interesting after going up big on the Eagles last Thursday, before closing the deal late in the fourth. The run game balanced the offensive attack with Leonard Fournette tacking on two touchdowns. Injuries have depleted the Bucs, but they’re continuing to extend their lead in the NFC South.
  4. Dallas Cowboys- Them boys are legit. Trevon Diggs, once again, proved he’s a serious contender for defensive player of the year leading the league in interceptions. The Cowboys have won five straight with a trip to Minnesota on Sunday night football this week. Get your popcorn ready.
  5. Buffalo Bills- Can you blame a coach for going for it on 4th down on the opponents’ three yard line? You get paid big bucks to win ball games. Not only does it send a message throughout your locker room, but it sets a tone for being aggressive – which will pay off later heading into playoff time. That mentality is why coaches stay tenured for so long within their reputable franchises (Bill Belicheck, Mike Tomlin, Andy Reid).
  6. Green Bay Packers– “I own you” is what Aaron Rodgers yelled into the crowd after being flipped the bird from a fan on Sunday evening, and yes he certainly does with a career record of 22-5 against the Bears. Since 1950, Mr. Rodgers has the third best winning percentage against a single opponent according ESPN Stats and information.
  7. Baltimore Ravens- If you saw a stat line of Lamar Jackson throwing for 167 yards with two interceptions for the game you may assume it came with a “L”. The fact is, the Ravens may have displayed their most complete performance of the season – shutting down the red hot Chargers by stopping them on 3rd down (4-16 for the game) and only allowing 26 yards rushing. Yea, the Ravens are legit, and more importantly, balanced.
  8. Kansas City Chiefs– A comfortable victory is exactly what the Chiefs needed – winning 31-13 over Washington and easing the tide just a bit. In order for the Chiefs to take the next step it starts and ends on the defensive end.
