Raleigh, NC – If anyone had any doubts of a letdown game after the open week, the NC State Wolfpack erased those possibilities with a dominating second-half performance leading to a 33-7 win over Boston College Saturday evening in Chestnut Hill, MA.
The win propels NC State to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the ACC while the Eagles fall to 4-2 and 0-2 in ACC action.
How It Happened
- NC State struck first with a 40-yard touchdown pass from Devin Leary to Devin Carter with 12:44 left in the opening quarter.
- Boston College responded with a 10 play 75-yard drive ending in an 8-yard pass from Dennis Grosel to Trae Barry tying the score at 7-7.
- The Wolfpack went ahead for good with a 27-yard field goal from Chris Dunn as time expired in the second quarter making the score 10-7.
- Boston College received the ball to start the second half but had their opening drive result in a scoop and score for Devan Boykin from 34 yards out putting the Wolfpack ahead 17-7.
- Leary continued his impressive performance with two more touchdowns in the third quarter with the first going to Dylan Parham from four yards out followed by Thayer Thomas snatching a jump ball out of the air and racing down the sideline 79 yards continuing the Wolfpack scoring run.
- A late safety in the fourth quarter was the icing on the cake providing the final score of 33-7
Leary finished the contest 16-24 for 251 yards and three touchdowns. Thomas led in receiving with four catches for 122. Receiver Emeka Emezie sketched his name in the Wolfpack record book as his two catches on the night set the record for career receptions. Isaiah Moore finished with 9 total tackles and an interception along with a tackle for loss. NC State returns to action Saturday, October 23 as the Wolfpack continue their fair road trip with a matchup with the Miami Hurricanes
