UNC will Honor Bobby Bowden During Matchup Against Florida State

Legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden lost his short battle with pancreatic cancer in August. Saturday, ahead of their matchup against the Seminoles, the Tar Heels will honor Bowden who coached for 55 years – 33 of which were at Florida State.

During his weekly press conference, UNC head coach Mack Brown said there would be a mural of Bowden painted outside of the visitor’s section at Kenan Stadium.

“This weekend we will honor Coach Bowden. There will be a mural painted on the brick wall right outside of the area where the Florida State fans will be sitting. He’s a dear friend of mine, obviously. We just lost him. He meant so much to me and my coaching career and there was never a time that I couldn’t pick up the phone and call him and say, ‘Coach, I’ve got this, what do you think?’ He was always wonderful, so this weekend I will have great memories of Coach Bowden as we prepare for Florida State and all of the fun times he and I had together.”

The Tar Heels will take on the Seminoles Saturday at 3:30 pm in Chapel Hill.
