Terence’s Rundown: Week 2 NFL Wrap-Up

Week 2 of the 2021 NFL season is in the books. Statements were made by some, and others still have questions that need to be answered. Let’s recap the action from this past week

Panthers vs Saints: Panthers’ defensive coordinator Phil Snow had Sean Payton and his offense in a blender this past Sunday. Carolina’s defense held the Saints’ offense to only 128 yards (the lowest since Sean Payton has been with the Saints), forced two interceptions and sacked Jameis Winston four times. Offensively, Sam Darnold was solid – throwing for over 300 yards and 2 TDs. Christian McCaffery had 137 yards from scrimmage. The Panthers have a quick turnaround as they head to H town to play the Texans Thursday.

Chiefs vs Ravens: If a QB needed a win badly Sunday it was Lamar Jackson. Coming off a performance where he had some costly turnovers in a week-one loss to the Raiders, all eyes were on Lamar Sunday night. After a shaky start, Lamar rallied the Ravens against the Chiefs – whom Lamar was 0-3 in his career against until Sunday night. Lamar had 239 yards passing and 107 yards rushing, while scoring 3 total TDs. For Kansas City, they have to be concerned about their defense giving up 29 and 36 points through their first two games. Despite Lamar’s effort, Kansas City still had an opportunity to win this game, but a Clyde Edwards-Helaire fumble ended up being their undoing.

Raiders vs Steelers: Derek Carr had his 2nd straight strong performance Sunday vs the Steelers defense – throwing for 382 yards and 2 touchdowns. Through two games, Carr has thrown for 817 yards and 4 TDs and has Las Vegas 2-0 vs two AFC North opponents. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, their offense struggled to generate anything from their run game, only rushing for 39 yards on 14 carries. The Steelers’ offense has to improve if they will win the AFC North this year with Cleveland looking strong through two weeks.
