Wolfpack Carries ACC Torch Opening Week

To say the ACC had a rough opening week in football…is a nice way to put it. Across the board, it was a downright failure. While the conference was a letdown all together, the NC State Wolfpack put on a showcase of dominance over USF in a 45-0 shutout victory last Thursday. But what did we learn from it?

We learned that the Wolfpack could have the next Triangle dynamic duo at running back with Ricky Person and Zonovan Knight. Devin Leary looked comfortable running the offense while spreading the ball to his many weapons. The veteran defense looked as advertised – pitching a shutout. But also, the opponent must come into play. USF was 1-8 last season and are in the midst of a complete rebuild. So, what’s next? A trip to SEC country.

NC State heads to Mississippi State for a Saturday night showdown with another chance to carry the torch for the conference against a conference the ACC hasn’t done well against in recent history. The Bulldogs are 1-0, but struggled against Louisiana Tech. Even with that, many will still give the SEC team the advantage. Kentucky showed in last season’s Gator Bowl that records don’t matter, and SEC football is just…different. Saturday will be a chance to right those wrongs and again show the world that this Wolfpack team is…. different.
