The NC State athletic department has implemented a policy requiring all student-athletes to be vaccinated in order to travel to away competitions, reports stated Thursday.
An NC State spokesperson stated the department has a policy in place for those who are not vaccinated which will limit the travel to coaches, student-athletes, and staff who are vaccinated or those who have an exception from the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity.
This comes after the Wolfpack baseball team was removed from the College World Series this past summer after a Covid-19 outbreak ended the team’s chances at a national championship, just one game away from the championship series.
While the shot is not mandatory for the department, this policy is definitely sending the message that it’s important to get it done and also prevent another tragic season end.
