Does LiAngelo Ball Have a Realistic Shot at Making the Hornets’ Roster?

He’s a Ball and arguably the best shooter among his brothers, who are both starting point guards in the NBA. That alone should give him a spot on a NBA roster, right? Wrong.

Thousands of players are fighting for the same spot LiAngelo Ball, current Hornets’ summer league marksman and brother of rookie of the year Lamelo Ball, wants. Despite playing limited minutes in three games, Li-Angelo has been efficient – showing range from the perimeter and giving Hornets’ fans a glimpse of his potential, but is it enough?

With a roster that is full of talent at his position – even cutting ties with veteran players who are more athletic and consistent on the defensive end – LiAngelo’s best shot at making the Hornets roster may start in Greensboro with the Swarm. That’s no knock on Ball. The G-league is for players just like him who need to revamp all phases of their game against world class players who have performed at the highest level outside of the NBA.

The Pros

The Cons

A this point LiAngelo deserves a G-league contract. Theoretically, from a NBA GM’s perspective, can LiAngelo’s shooting ability surpass all the intangibles that another, more proven player could bring to the roster? No.
