College Football Experienced Wolfpack Start Camp With Productive Opening Practice The NC State football team opened the 2021 preseason camp in a position they haven’t been in a while – Seasoned. Entering his 9th season as the head coach of the Wolfpack, Dave Doeren and crew took the field Wednesday morning with a group of guys who have been here before – making camp and practice easier due to familiarity, while also finding ways to challenge a vet heavy group. “This isn’t last year’s team obviously, every year is new but you can learn from things that happened,” said Doeren after practice. “There’s detailed things that you can hold them accountable for because they add up” Some of those things are the small things that both Doeren and players stressed that can keep teams from winning and losing, such as the penalties that haunted the Wolfpack in a few games last season. With sights set on bigger goals for the 2021 season, the Wolfpack are still hungry as they are now the hunted instead of the hunters coming off a school-record ACC win total. “It’s a hungry team and it’s competitive. There’s guys trying to get on the field versus other guys that are also really good and they can’t have a really down day and keep their job.” August 4, 2021
