Monday, the Carolina Panthers reached an agreement with the NY Jets to acquire quarterback Sam Darnold.
Jordan Palmer shared the former 3rd all-around NFL draft pick celebrating the fresh start on his Instagram story. Darnold can be seen entering with cheering friends and Panthers colored balloons. As he joins them he pumps up the applause before putting on a Carolina hat.
In a press conference yesterday, Panthers’ GM Scott Fitterer said he feels like Darnold can take the next step in Carolina.
“With the weapons we have around him he can take that next step with us. I was excited to add a guy of Sam’s caliber.”
The Panthers gave up a sixth-round pick in 2021 plus a second- and fourth-round pick in 2022 in exchange for Darnold.
