Last season, the Carolina Panthers struggled against defending the run and in third down situations. In the second day of NFL Free Agency, the Panthers signed linebackers Haason Reddick and Denzel Perryman, and defensive lineman Morgan Fox.
Opposing offenses will think twice about dropping back to throw in second or third and long, because Brian Burns and Reddick will be coming off of the SAM and WILL sides, ready to close in and sack the quarterback.
Reddick, at 6-1 and 235 pounds, is an aggressive and speedy edge rusher who can not only find multiple gaps but also stunt to get to the quarterback.
Last season, as a full time rusher, Reddick generated the 5th highest pressure rate in the league at 200 pass rushes at 14.1 percent.
Perryman will add speed and versatility to the MIKE slot that’s been lacking in those areas since Luke Kuechly retired. Perryman is a more than capable pass defender. Two seasons ago, Perryman allowed 20 catches for 168 yards and no touchdowns, an interceptions and an opponent passer rating of 71.7.
Terms have yet to be disclosed on all signings.
