Wolfpack Return To Road For Showdown With Notre Dame

The NC State Wolfpack and Notre Dame Fighting Irish will meet Wednesday evening on the opposite end of streaks with the Wolfpack winners of their last four and the Irish dropping their last three contests.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 PM inside the Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center and can be seen on the ACC Network.

The Wolfpack (12-9 overall, 8-8 ACC) return to the court for the first time since their 65-62 home victory over Pittsburgh Sunday afternoon. Playing on the road shouldn’t affect the Wolfpack much as NC State has won their last three road ACC contest including a win over ranked UVA on February 24.

Forward Cole Hellems has proven to be a pure scorer in the absence of Devon Daniels leading the Wolfpack on offense with 13 points per game. Fellow forward DJ Funderburk follows at 12 points per game with Manny Bates not far behind at 9 points per game. All three collect just over five rebounds per contest. Freshman Cam Hayes has stepped in the starting point guard position leading the team in assist at 3.2 per game while also pitching in 7 points per outing.

Notre Dame (9-13 overall, 6-10 ACC) will be looking to return to the win column in the midst of a three-game losing skid with their most recent outing resulting in a 94-90 loss to Boston College on February 27. All three of their most recent losses have been road contests with their last home game being on Valentine’s Day as they defeated Miami 71-61.

Prentiss Hubb leads Notre Dame on the offensive side pouring in 14.4 points per game along with a team-high 6.2 assist per outing. Nate Laszewski balances out the scoring attack with 14.1 points per game while collecting 7.6 rebounds per game. Dane Goodwin and Juwan Durham round out the double-figure contributors with 12.3 and 10.6 points per game respectively.

Both teams enter the contest with identical field goal percentage shooting 47% from the floor while averaging near 73 points per game each while also collecting 33 total rebounds per game. Notre Dame holds the slim 15-13 edge in assist per game while NC State’s full-court defense produces 8 steals per game to just four from Notre Dame.
