In 2017, LaVar Ball, the outspoken father of the Charlotte’s 1st round draft pick LaMelo Ball, told USA Today that he’d beat Hornets’ owner and undisputed GOAT Michael Jordan one-on-one.
“Back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one. I would just back (Jordan) in and lift him off the ground and call a foul every time he fouls me when I do a jump hook to the right or the left. He cannot stop me one-on-one. He better make every shot ’cause he can’t go around me. He’s not fast enough. And he can only make so many shots outside before I make every bucket under the rim.”
If you think LaVar is backing down from those comments now that his son will play for Jordan’s team, think again. When asked by Fox 46’s Josh Sims about his claim, Ball doubled down – saying he would “most definitely” beat MJ, but added that fans would have to pay a lot of money to see it.
Jordan would never entertain this. He laughed off Ball’s last comment. But at least it’s entertaining to talk about.
