Panthers Release Eli Apple

Eli Apple has been struggling with injuries all season. Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter, the Panthers released him.

Hours before he was cut, Apple left practice early. Coach Rhule said he was sent inside for treatment.

Apple was expected to add depth and experience to a young cornerback position, but was only activated for two games. He played six snaps during the week-four win against the Cardinals before leaving the game with a hamstring issue. Sunday, he got the most burn he’s had all season – playing 28 snaps and totaling four tackles in the loss to New Orleans.
