Report: Christian McCaffrey Expected to Be Out Multiple Weeks

Christian McCaffrey suffered what appeared to be an ankle injury in Sunday’s loss to Tampa Bay. While immediately after the game information was limited about its severity, Adam Schefter is now reporting he’s expected to miss multiple weeks.

After the game, head coach Matt Rhule said wasn’t sure exactly what happened.

“I don’t know anything right now. I know he came out in the first quarter at one point and just at the end of the game they said he was out with a lower leg injury. I haven’t seen the doctors yet to know where it’s at. They said he was down and we went with Mike (Davis) the rest of the way.”

“He went down and then he was right back. They just really tell me up or down. Sorry I don’t have more information than that. I guess it was third down and he pulled himself out and then he was quickly back in. The one at the end they just said he was down and we just rolled with Mike (Davis).”

This is a potentially huge blow to a Carolina offense that relies heavily on McCaffrey. When things have gone stagnant he’s provided a jumpstart. If CMC is out, expect Mike Davis to carry the brunt of his responsibilities along with Reggie Bonnafon.
