Curtis Samuel is due for a breakout season. Each of this three years at Carolina he’s shown flashes of just how electrifying he can be, but injuries (his own and at the quarterback position) have only allowed the speedster to scratch the surface of his full potential.
That all could be changing this season. The Panthers have gone through a complete overhaul and with that the addition of a new offense led by Joe Brady. Christian McCaffrey and Robby Anderson have already told us to expect a creative and fun playbook that uses all of the weapons Carolina has. When asked how he’ll fit into the new scheme during Thursday’s Zoom availability, Samuel didn’t reveal much, but the smile he flashed before answering certainly implied fans have something to look forward to.
“I”m not going to really get into the details, spoil it and give people intel on what’s to come, but with my skill set – the ability to do so much outside and inside, and play running back – definitely gives me the flexibility to do more.”
His goals for this year are simple. Curtis wants to be “dynamic” when the ball is in his hands. If the Panthers get that, fans (and opposing defenses) will be in for a surprise this season.
