Three Tar Heel Football Players Opt Out of Season

Friday, the Tar Heel football program announced three defensive backs have opted out of playing this season.

Bryce Watts sat out last season after transferring from Virginia Tech. Jovan Terry played in all 13 regular season games at defensive back last year totaling four tackles, a TFL and a sack for the season. DJ Ford appeared in all 13 games in 2019 and made seven starts. He compiled 54 tackles, one sack, 2.5 tackles for loss, three hurries, two breakups, one fumble recovery and one INT.

Tough to lose three players at one position, but the addition of 5 star prospect Tony Grimes, who reclassified and enrolled at UNC just a week ago, should help.

Watt, Terry and Ford will remain on scholarship.
