So far, the Panthers have had a relatively quiet offseason (if you exclude all of the Cam Newton rumors, Luke Kuechly’s sudden retirement and the departure of Greg Olsen…), but Wednesday all of that changed when they reportedly traded offensive guard Trai Turner to the LA Chargers for offensive tackle Russell Okung.
Okung, a 2010 1st round draft pick, is a 2-time Pro Bowler (2012 and 2017).
Turner responded to the news by tweeting palm trees and airplane emojis.
It was reported that Carolina also signed former Browns defensive end and North Carolina native Chris Smith to a 1-year deal.
Smith started 9 games last year in Cleveland.
