Brandon Robinson Sidelined with Ankle Sprain

University of North Carolina senior guard Brandon Robinson suffered a sprained right ankle during Friday’s exhibition game vs. Winston-Salem State.

X-rays taken on Saturday were negative for a fracture.  During his press conference ahead of Wednesday’s season opener, Coach Roy Williams called the injury “really serious” – adding that the team captain was riding around on a scooter. Teammate Garrison Brooks said that they are preparing to be without him for a “couple of weeks.” Officially, there is no timetable for his return.

Robinson was injured with 12:19 to play in the first half after he blocked a fast break attempt. He left the game and did not return. The Douglasville, Ga., native had scored eight points before leaving the contest.

Carolina opens the regular season tomorrow night at home against Notre Dame.
