Joey Slye Feels Sadness for Gano, But Looking Forward to Proving Himself this Season (Video)

Joey Slye originally came to Carolina looking to do enough during the preseason to impress one of the other 31 teams. A month later, after the Panthers placed veteran Graham Gano on the season-ending injured reserve list, Virginia Tech’s all-time leading scorer is THE guy. And although Slye feels sad for Gano, he’s ready to prove what he says he should’ve proven before.

With Gano still experiencing pain in his leg, Coach Ron Rivera said the move to place him on IR was the safest thing to do.

During the preseason Slye made 7 of 8 field goals – including going a perfect 3-3 from 50 yards or more. He also made all (3) of his extra point attempts.
