Making it through training camp without any major injuries is always the hope of every NFL team as they enter the regular season. But forget nearly three weeks, it’s been a rough five days for the Panthers as they’ve seen two potential starters go down with substantial injuries.
Right tackle Daryl Williams dislocated his right patella and tore the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during practice last Saturday and corner back Ross Cockrell broke the tibia and fibula in his left leg at the end of Monday’s practice.
“This is a tough one cause (Cockrell is) such a good person, too. That’s what makes it hard when good guys like he and Daryl go down,” Rivera said. “You wish these things wouldn’t happen.”
There’s no word yet on how long Williams is expected to be side-lined. Cockrell will miss the entire season.
