Rae Carruth, the former Carolina Panthers wide receiver who has spent the last 17 years in prison for conspiring to murder Cherica Adams, is speaking publicly for the first time in over a decade – apologizing for the murder of Adams and expressing a desire to have a relationship with his son Chandler.
You can read Carruth’s full letter to Cherica’s mother Saundra here.
Ms. Adams responded to the story expressing thankfulness that Rae has taken responsibility for her daughter’s death, but firmly stating he will never have custody of her grandson Chancellor.
Twitter reacted accordingly to the news of Carruth’s letter and desire to have custody of his son.
Rae Carruth is absolutely crazy. This man penned this letter to apologize for murdering this woman's daughter and asking to see the son that he didn't even want to be born! The audacity! I didn't even realize that the system had only given him 20 years! Really though…

News Flash: Hey Rae Carruth, if you kill someone’s daughter you don’t get the right to lecture them about any falsehoods they may say about you in public! Your letter has you playing the victim. Apparently 20 years wasn’t enough time in jail…

Carruth is scheduled to be released in October of this year.
