Traffic Stop Involving Charlotte Native & NBA Player Anthony Morrow Under Investigation (Video)

Charlotte native and current Chicago Bulls shooting guard Anthony Morrow, took to Instagram earlier this week to share with fans a story of alleged racial profiling black men in America are all too familiar with.

Morrow, who was in Georgia picking up his daughter for the weekend, told of his interaction with police in Commerce, a town about 70 miles north of Atlanta.  He alleges in the the video that officers immediately asked if there were drugs in his car, requested to search his car and even inquired about what his occupation was – all seemingly without reason.

After Morrow’s interaction with state troopers went viral, Georgia Department of Safety spokesman Mark Perry says the department has launched an official investigation into the incident.

“While Mr. Morrow has made no such formal complaint to the Department of Public Safety, we do take those statements very seriously.  Accordingly, a formal investigation has been initiated to determine the facts surrounding the traffic stop, and the results of the investigation will be made public at its conclusion.”

According to Perry, Morrow’s car was searched after a police dog indicated that he smelled drugs.  A subsequent search of the car turned up nothing.
