Panthers Agree to Terms with Charles Johnson, Fozzy Whittaker and More

Just two days before teams who may have had their eyes on Carolina’s unrestricted free agents got a chance to make official offers, the Panthers have resigned several players including defensive end Charles Johnson and running back Fozzy Whitaker.

The Panthers have elected not to exercise their option on receivers Philly Brown and LaRon Byrd.

Now that he’s agreed to terms with Carolina, Charles Johnson says the next order of business is to get free agent Julius Peppers to come home.

Not sure how that’s going to work out, but there’s still a lot of work to do this offseason for Gettleman and company if Carolina looks to return to the post season.  The offensive line needs work, Cam Newton needs a reliable slot receiver and the defense needs another pass rusher.  But its still early and these recent signings are at least a start.
