All season Cam Hamilton has been lighting up the scoreboard by leading the Vance High School Cougars in points (23.4 PPG), and although his final game didn’t have the outcome he’d like (Vance lost to Richmond Senior in a 123-118 shootout), he ended his high school career in style by breaking a 16 year-old Mecklenburg County record by scoring 63 points.

Hamilton, like most record-setting scorers, said he was zoned in and didn’t realize what he’d accomplished until afterward.
“While the game was being played I was so zoned in on winning I didn’t care how many (points) I was scoring. Â It didn’t really hit me until after what I have accomplished.”
In addition to setting a Mecklenburg County scoring record on 25-of-40 from the field, including 6-of-10 3-pointers, Hamilton also had nine rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Cam, who’s being recruited by several four year universities, isn’t sure where he will play next year, but what he is sure about, is that he will always remember this game.
“As a senior it means a lot to have a game like that because I will never put on a high school jersey again. Â I hate that we lost, but I will always remember this game.”
